Review: Mark Fast Tribute
Today a new Tribute store came out on the plaza a little by surprise, at least to me. When I saw it my first thought was 'Oh dear, not another Tribute! I didn't save for this!' This was obviously before I even saw the clothes, because when I lay my eyes on something promising my first thought is that I'm going to want everything from there.
Technically speaking, I'm really happy for this collection because the graphics look amazing - Stardoll may have been reading some blogs and paying atention to the critics made towards the graphic quality. It had been lowering a lot and most of the stuff would seem rushed. But hopefully that was only at the time when the staff had been planning Downtown or something, because even the Frankie Morello Tribute already had great graphic quality - thumbs up for that!
Now, moving on to the actually contextual high fashion point of view. Comparing to the real fashion show, it doesn't even seem like it's the same designer and clothes when you first look at it. Starting from the color palette - as you can see a preview of it below:
The real Mark Fast show first delights you with elegant black pieces combined with pieces of pastel and somewhat nude tones and then contrasts them when the bold purple and red pieces come out.
Stardoll's collection is all about bright colors and black. They already did that exageration of hue and exposure on Frankie Morello and they did it again - but worse. It reminds me of that awful Fever store. NOBODY liked Fever and I'd love to not be reminded of another collection as such. The original Mark Fast color palette would help us create more mature outfits, I think.
Regarding the clothing itself, obviously just as the most recent Tributes, very few pieces are actually similar to the original creations. The masculine oversized trench on the runway was reduced to a way too bright magenta parka/vest that sits around the hip. The two Zipper Suits on Stardoll were an example of pieces that were simply made up. I guess if they stuck to making the clothing similar to the runway they didn't need to make up new ones because they'd have enough.
Finally I'd love to see more accessories than just belts and a couple of shoulder purses. I absolutely loved the nude pumps and mesh heels, the other shoes were great as well. The interior is simply amazing, can't complain on that. (:
All in all, I did like the collection, although it's just too bright for me. Here are my highlights:
This was a lot actually haha. Well, What did you think of this Mark Fast Tribute? Do you agree that Fever's bright colors should be OUT? Kisses!
